The year was 1978, young McTavish enters the security industry. Jimmy Carter was the US President and Larry Holmes, heavyweight boxing champion of the world. McTavish sets himself apart form the other slothful security guards on the job. He ensured that he looked sharp and acted sharp on and off the job. He gained experience in the industry, worked hard and was task oriented. By 1980 he was promoted to director of security. Sure he had a support boss who gave him a chance and took the risk, as well as fellow security guards who obeyed and loved him, but chance favors the prepared mind.
The year 1982, young McTavish enters law enforcement as a police recruit. Ronald Reagan was president and Larry Holmes TKOs Gerry Cooney in 13 rounds and retains the heavyweight boxing title. After six months at the police academy, he graduated and makes a steady living and progression in his police career. In his off-duty time McTavish moonlights as a bodyguard for high-profile Hollywood movie stars and professional athletes. He attends to all the details passionately, and profitably. McTavish begins to focus all his heart and mind on body-guarding with an intense drive and desire.
After years of constantly improving and honing his skills as a police officer/bodyguard, McTavish leaves the police department and opens his own executive protection firm. He embraces the career change with compassion and respect for the industry and his steady stream of clients.
The year was 1991, young McTavish takes his firm international and sets up an office in Southeast Asia. George H. W. Bush was the US President and Evander Holyfield TKOs Bert Cooper in 7 rounds for the heavyweight boxing title. Prior to doing this McTavish had broadened his overseas connections and professional acquaintances and differentiated his company from the competitors in the region. This was the best decision he ever made for his company, career, and life.
The year is 2009, Nikolay Valuev is the WBA and Vitali Klitschko is the WBC heavyweight boxing champion and Barack Obama is the US President. As for McTavish he is still plying the trade, actively involved in command and control executive protection assignments across Southeast Asia and India. He has 50 employees, with offices in Manila, Bangkok and Mumbai. He lives a quiet life when not working and avoids the spotlight private security services in London
Why was McTavish so successful thus far in the industry? He is a well-organized, tough, calculated risk taker. He keeps his objectives clearly in mind and has pride in ownership of his company. He loves the industry and passionately cares about it.
